A more thoughtful way to make furniture.
Not everything we sell is made the same way. And we think it's important to be honest about that.
Across our collection, you'll find furniture from a range of sources — different materials, different origins, different stories. But within that, there is one range we're particularly proud of: our mango wood furniture, handcrafted by skilled artisans in India.
This page is about that range specifically — what makes it different, and why we think it matters.
Sustainably Sourced Wood — Starting with the tree.
Before anything is made, it starts with the tree.
Our mango wood comes from trees that have already lived a full life producing fruit. Once they stop bearing, they're carefully replaced — and instead of being wasted, the wood is used to create furniture.
Nothing is taken unnecessarily. Nothing is rushed. It's simply a natural cycle, used properly.
While growing, these trees absorb carbon from the atmosphere, which remains stored within the wood for years to come. By using what already exists, rather than cutting down forests, the impact is naturally lower from the very beginning.
From tree to workshop
Mango wood is not grown for furniture. It's a byproduct of fruit farming.
Once harvested, the wood is transported to workshops in India where it is shaped and finished by hand. Transport is a necessary part of the process, but it's handled as efficiently as possible — with planned routes and consolidated loads to reduce unnecessary movement.
It's not about claiming perfection. It's about doing things more carefully, step by step.
Made by hand
Each piece in our mango wood range is made by skilled artisans using traditional techniques passed down over generations.
This way of working naturally uses less energy than large-scale manufacturing, but more importantly, it allows for care and attention in every detail. Joints are considered, surfaces are worked properly, and nothing feels rushed.
You can see it in the finished piece — and more importantly, you can live with it.
The material itself
Mango wood is a true hardwood. It's strong, stable, and well suited to everyday use.
Because of its natural grain, it takes finishes evenly, giving it a clean, balanced look across different tones. Whether lighter or darker, the character of the wood still comes through.
It's not uniform in the way synthetic materials are — and that's exactly the point.
How it changes over time
Solid wood doesn't stay exactly the same, and it isn't meant to.
Over time, mango wood will deepen slightly in tone, the grain will become more defined, and the surface will develop a soft, natural sheen. Small movements can happen as it responds to its environment — particularly with changes in temperature and humidity.
These are normal characteristics of real wood. They're part of what gives each piece its own identity.
Made to last
This is furniture designed for long-term use.
Solid mango wood is durable and dependable, often lasting for decades with simple care. It doesn't need to be replaced every few years, and it doesn't fall apart under everyday use.
That longevity matters. It reduces waste, avoids unnecessary replacement, and creates something that can stay with you over time.
Finishing and materials
Finishes are chosen to work with the wood, not cover it.
Water-based, lower-impact stains allow the surface to breathe and age naturally, rather than sealing it in a way that feels artificial. The aim is always to enhance the material, not hide it.
Packaging follows the same thinking — kept as simple as possible, using mostly recycled materials and avoiding excess wherever it can be avoided.
A considered journey
From workshop to home, every stage is approached with care.
Furniture is transported in consolidated shipments and handled as efficiently as possible to reduce unnecessary impact. It's not about eliminating the journey, but about making it more considered.
Living with it
Mango wood works well in a range of environments.
It will naturally respond to seasonal changes, settling into its surroundings over time. With basic care — avoiding excessive moisture, heat, or prolonged direct sunlight — it remains stable and reliable.
Like anything natural, it benefits from being looked after, but it doesn't demand anything complicated.
A more thoughtful choice — for those who want it.
We don't claim that everything we sell is sustainably sourced. We think that kind of blanket statement does more harm than good.
What we can say is that our mango wood range — made by hand, from reclaimed fruit wood, by artisans in India — represents a genuinely more considered way of making furniture. And for those who care about that, we wanted to be clear about exactly what that means.
